The times of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table have inspired countless legends. These myths are one more reason why the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament so popular with tourists.
You'll be transported to another time when you arrive. You'll have the chance to explore the Medieval Life Village, 10 cottages adjacent to the castle. When touring the village, you'll have the chance to let your family learn about life in medieval times.
You'll see the coppersmith explaining and demonstrating his craft. You'll have the chance to watch as cloth is woven and pottery is crafted and shaped from clay and learn how it is that this wet dirt can become a liquid-carrying vessel. You'll get to know just what a blacksmith is and what his role was in society.
You'll even have the chance to see what happened to those who didn't quite fit in when you see the dungeon and torture chamber. But even if that's a little frightening for the youngest members of your family, the fear will soon be replaced with delight.
As soon as you enter the Grand Ceremony Arena - along with the others who file into and fill the 1100 seat space - you'll be amazed. In this fully enclosed replica of an eleventh century castle, you'll be served your 4 course feast by cast members dressed as serfs and wenches. While your servers are dressed in a way that represents a lower class in society, you can be sure that they will be well-mannered and attentive.
In fact, many times the serfs and wenches are as memorable as the the rest of the evening. Though you're sure to be filled up with a meal that, in the time of jousts would have been reserved for royalty, the show is the real reason why you will have come.
You're sure to be fascinated as brave knights on horseback compete in the staged tournament. But though all of the knights are fierce competitors, you will be asked to root for one knight above the others. In fact, the arena will be divided into cheering sections.
While the competition is friendly, this serves to involve the crowd more in the festivities. You'll cheer for your knight as he and his horse compete in tournament games. You'll warn him to look out when, during the jousting match, he appears at risk for being knocked off of his horse. You'll hope for his safety while he is involved in a sword fight.
But mostly you'll remember him for a long time. Not only is your knight a part of the performance, but he also will take the time to interact with the crowd. He'll be able to answer a number of questions that the audience poses.
Once you leave - though you won't want to, even after the performance is over - you'll take with you more than memories; you'll also have picked up information and knowledge about another time in history.
