With over 1700 animals from Asia and Africa residing at Disney's Animal Kingdom, there is much to explore. Since the animals prefer the cooler weather, your best bet is to get there earlier in the morning. The animals are much more active during these hours.
The African Savannah
Once you get there, embark on the Kilimanjaro Safari first. This ride encompasses most of the park, and it also offers a great view of the animals in their natural environs. Along the way you'll encounter a variety of wildlife found within the African Savannah including zebras, giraffes, rhinos, alligators, elephants and various others.
The Tree of Life
One the most celebrated specimens on the Kilimanjaro Safari is the majestic Tree of Life. Towering 145 feet tall, the Tree of Life has over 300 animals carved into its trunk. The tree is actually artificial, yet it symbolically represents a full spectrum of the Earth's most precious creatures. It was also used for the current 3D feature film "It's Tough to be a Bug."
Maharaja Jungle Trek
Explore the wildlife wonders of India, Thailand, Indonesia and other parts of Asia on the Maharaja Jungle Trek. This fascinating voyage showcases deer, komodo dragons, birds, tigers, a bat cage and various other remarkable creatures.
Kali River Rapids
Journey down the Kali River Rapids and discover a washed out rainforest. Be advised you're going to get wet on this one, but you can throw on a big yellow poncho if you want to reduce the soak factor. The theme of this ride is to relay the devastating effect of logging within the rainforest. So be prepared for a lesson in logging while you enjoy those raging rapids.
Expedition Everest
In the spring of 2006, Expedition Everest became the newest addition to Disney's Animal Kingdom. This exhibit features a rollercoaster adventure ride that brings you through icy forests, glaciers and snowy mountain tops to encounter a spooky yeti - also known as the Abominable Snowman.
